2024 Ford F-350 + SET 8' Tray.
Work-truck XL base, tall-skinny 37s on factory steel wheels, Tremor suspension retrofit, and an 8' SET tray.
Why the XL trim?
Scott came to us already onto the right idea: a 2024 F-350 XL — Ford's work-truck base trim, with the steel wheels, the simple front bumper, and the no-nonsense interior — plus an 8-foot Summit Expedition Trucks tray on the back. In his own words, he wanted the build to read closer to a farm truck than an off-road beast. So we leaned into that aesthetic and let the work-truck bones do the heavy lifting. Powder-coat the steelies? Skip it. Black wheels? Skip it. The factory silver steel wheels stayed exactly as they came, and we sized the tires up to match.
The tray is a Summit Expedition Trucks 8-foot full-size base deck (96×80") in powder-coated black, with the matching 40" full-size headboard, 35" fenders, 24" front and 38" rear under-tray toolboxes, a tail board blank, drop side gates for full open-deck cargo access, and fourteen interior deck tie-downs for strapping loads down. An ADD universal spare tire carrier sits at the driver-front corner of the deck — necessary once you go past 35" tires since the factory underbody mount won't fit anything bigger. Lighting is intentionally minimal: a pair of Baja Designs S2 amber SAE flush-mounts cut into the factory front bumper for fog-pocket use, and a pair of Baja Designs S1 wide-cornering pods under the tray wired to the reverse circuit for backup lighting at night. AMP Research PowerStep powered side steps deploy automatically when the doors open.
For tires we went with the tall-skinny Nitto Recon Grappler A/T (37×11.5R17, Load Range D) on the factory silver steel wheels — the only true skinny-37 on the market, and it gives the truck the lift-and-stance look without the typical fender poke. To pull off 37s cleanly, we retrofitted Ford's Tremor suspension components from a donor vehicle (front coils, track bar, front and rear shocks) for about a 1-inch front lift, and added the slim 2023+ Tremor low-profile front valance to clean up the bumper-to-tire visual. An S&B cold air intake rounds out the underhood work on the 6.7L Power Stroke. Clean, simple, work-truck purposeful — exactly what Scott was after.
