Carlton's Tremor.
2026 F-250 + FWC Hawk Orvis.
A fly-fisherman's rig. Carli Pintop, Buckstop bumper, 7.3 Godzilla gas, and an Orvis Special Edition Hawk loaded with custom mods.
Why an Orvis Special Edition?
Carlton came to us wanting an exploration rig built around fly fishing — a truck that could get him to remote rivers, carry weeks of gear, dry his waders out overnight, and hold up to long hauls without running out of fuel. He picked the new Hawk Orvis Special Edition for the camper — it's the FWC variant designed specifically for fishermen, with a built-in fly rod holder under the bed (six rod slots), a watertight wet storage closet that drains outside (perfect for waders and wet gear), a removable 2-burner propane stove that can be used inside or outside, Orvis-specific heavy-duty fabric, and the Metallic Charcoal siding. Then we built the truck around it and added a long list of custom mods to the camper itself.
Suspension is full Carli Pintop — 2.5" pintop shocks, fabricated radius arms, torsion front sway bar, dual high/low steering stabilizers, Carli XHD progressive leaf pack rated 1,800-2,000 lb constant load, and Carli upgraded shackles. A Hellwig 1-5/16" Big Wig rear sway bar tightens body roll up under the camper. Tires stay factory: Carlton's Tremor came with 35" Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs and they're the right rubber for the build — F-rated, plenty of life left, and ready for the dirt-road exploration he plans to do. Up front sits a Buckstop Outback bumper, customized to fit a four-light array — four Baja Designs LP4 Pros across the top on a custom Axia Alloys tube clamp bar (driving combo and spot mix), XL-R 80 driving combos in the 6" holes, and Squadron-R amber SAEs in the 4" holes wired to the factory fog circuit. Warn 16.5 TI-S winch on synthetic line. All factory sensors retained including the front camera (Camera Source relo).
Truck-side electrical runs through a Switch-Pros SP9100 mounted in the factory sunglass holder via SDHQ's 3D-printed adapter. Under the rear seat, an ARB Twin air compressor with chucks at both rear doors — wired through Switch-Pros for in-cab control. WeBoost cell booster with the antenna on the camper Yakima tracks and the modem under the rear seat next to the compressor. WolfBox G900Pro digital rearview mirror handles the front-and-rear views once the camper blocks the back glass, with full-time dash cam recording. A 12V outlet in the back seat runs from the camper's lithium bank to power a fridge/freezer in the cab — Basil's go-to setup for long Mexico trips. A Transfer Flow 58-gallon midship gas tank gets the truck somewhere in a 600-mile range with the camper on board (rare for a gas truck — Ford and Godzilla are one of the only platforms with an extended-range option in gas).
The camper is where the build really opens up. Beyond the Orvis-specific layout, Carlton optioned the 270-degree Alu-Cab wraparound awning (with our custom-installed gutter to bridge the camper-awning gap), the Alu-Cab ShowerCube on the passenger side for a private outdoor shower stall, an Alu-Cab Wrappon Trekker WT-4 cassette toilet system installed inside, and a Hest Dually Queen mattress with Hest pillows and cooling pillowcases. We added 4 sections of vertical L-track on either side of the entry door, custom MOLLE panels on the driver-side L-track (small and large), a custom enclosed storage box mounted to L-track on the rear wall (with the existing porch and flood lights and solar port relocated to the box on quick disconnects), and a custom wet-closet shelf inside the wet storage. For roof access, GFC Mantis Claws receivers mounted to the camper sides with a telescoping ladder — clean, removable, and rock-solid. Power is a stacked REDARC system: factory BCDC 1225 (25A) plus a Manager Alpha 50 we added on top for a combined 75A charge rate (about a 3-4 hour zero-to-full off the alternator), with the TVMS Rogue Redvision screen running everything. Two Expion360 162Ah lithium batteries, a REDARC 2000W pure sine inverter, a 185W REDARC roof solar panel on our custom mounts, and a REDARC 240W portable solar blanket for camp deployment. Starlink Mini lives at the front driver corner on a PCI Race Bracket with magnetic feet so it can come off and ground-deploy under tree cover. The whole electrical system runs through one screen and the REDARC app — stupid clean for a side-dinette-class camper that doesn't normally support that level of integration.
